In 1997, an LDS Church committee created a marker to be attached to the graves of Pioneers who arrived in the valley prior to the coming of the railroad.  These were sold to anyone who wanted to attach one to the grave of his or her ancestor, in commemoration of the sesquicentennial of the arrival of the Pioneers in 1847.

The markers are 2 ½ inches by 3 ½ inches of very durable metal. Those who attached them in 1997 say they have not deteriorated from weather.
